4. Sea

How many are your works, LORD! In wisdom you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures. There is the sea, vast and spacious, teeming with creatures beyond number— living things both large and small.

Psalm 104:24-25

You rule over the surging sea; when its waves mount up, you still them.

Psalm 89:9

The sea, so wild and free; the vast and boundless oceans of the world are ruled over by our God, the Creator and sustainer of life. The hands that can still surging seas, are the hands that hold and carry us. The power and serenity, beauty and energy of the sea are reflections of the nature of their Creator, as are the treasures of life found within the sea and at the seashore.

In our lives, storms will come, and seas won’t always be calm and glistening. Sometimes circumstances will surge and batter us. God’s promise is with-ness. He will be with us. He will hold us and carry us through.

What storms in your life do you need to surrender to the God today? How does the matchless beauty and power of the sea lead you to worship God?

God, open our eyes to the incredible vastness and creativity of your work in the world around us. It shows your artistry, your delight to create. And hold us always, through every storm. May your presence and love be our sustaining force.
